The xx – I See You – ALBUM REVIEW

Hello everyone! Tonight I will be reviewing “I See You”, the third studio album released by British indie-rock band The xx.

The album is made up of 12 tracks:

  1. Dangerous
  2. Say Something Loving
  3. Lips
  4. A Violent Noise
  5. Performance
  6. Replica
  7. Brave for you
  8. On Hold
  9. I Dare You
  10. Test Me
  11. Naive
  12. Seasons Run

Although the band mainly specialise in indie-rock this album clearly takes influence from a variety of genres. The strong lyrics mean that even if you have never listened to the band before after the first listen you feel like old friends as the soft vocals add an intimate feel to the album.

I love when an album track list pieces together perfectly to almost feel like a jigsaw, this album definitely does this as when played in full it feels like the listener is being told a story by the band.

Although it’s hard to choose my favourite tracks on the record have got to be: ‘A Violent Noise’, ‘Performance’ and ‘Replica’

Before listening to this album I wasn’t familiar with the band nor their sound, however I am glad that I decided to give them a listen and honestly I am not disappointed.

I am going to be giving this album a 3 out of 5 star rating: it is clear that I am going to have to return to this album and play it in full again at a later date to truly understand the themes.

Until next time: stay safe, be happy and keep on jamming!!
